They are serious, i work with them for over 5 months, never had a problem regarding payments if that concern you the most.
They are IN for a long run and not going anywhere.
Regarding "throwing money like this" it's just a marketing strategy.... worked in the past and will surely work now. They closed registration right now, will be open soon. They are working hard now on traffic for the registred models and soon the restriction will be lifted.
